The Retention of Older Workers Project (ROW) is a federally funded project aimed at developing, trialing and evaluating initiatives with the goal of keeping our older, experienced workers in the workforce.
One such current initiative is the Older Worker Leave (OWL) pilot study. In partnership with the Wellness Institute, the OWL Pilot Study provides an new opportunity for staff in targeted professions to apply for a temporary leave of absence. The OWL is designed to provide a period of rest specifically for workers who are eligible for retirement.
Whether the leave is taken for family time, a period of relief, a time of reflection and personal development, to support to a charitable cause or for other reasons, it gives older workers a potential option for finding work-life balance and an alternative to retirement plans.
